I'm a Real Estate Broker and a Property Manager in Fernley.  I have lived here over 30 years, jumped through a lot hoops with our town.  But this water issue is extreme and definately needs to be addressed NOW.

I am not confident the water treatment Plant has the trick.  When I test my water with a water tester it registers 596 parts per mil.  that is way too high for my liking.  I always tell people that rent from me and people that buy from me, "Don't drink the water.: Every long time Fernley resident knows better.  So as you can see I don't believe the water treatment plant is helping my water at all.

I have seniors as renters and lots of tenants on umemployment they cant affort another hike in the water bill.  The homeowners are upside down on their properties, at least a $100.000 or better and now you are telling them they could eat another $576 a year on something they will never break even on.  We will be a ghost town, investors will walk away, families who are on the brink of leaving, will leave.  Adding $48 a month to a struggling home owner will only push them over the edge.

The only answer I see is to keep the $18 a month, because we can manage this, look for Federal Grants to help us pay for this.  Homeowners and Renters can't afford another dime in increase.

Town Council, you should have jumped the agenda and put Item 10 firs,t knowing that all the people attending were only there for that item.  Instead you make everyone listen to the everyday items we voted all of you in to make choices and vote on. By the time you got to  Item 10 many people had left. It sure feels like you planned it that way.

I could not agree more! The City of Fernley is mis-managed at best. The Counsel has the obligation to have the best interest of the people they were elected to represent. The agenda process was by design ment to discourage people from having a say. It is in the people of Fernley's best interest to make a change in the people who we elected. It would also be in the best interest of the people to sell the Water Treatment Facility and Sewer Plant to the highest bidder. Then let the government regulate the new owners. The new owners will only be able to charge what is allowed. As, I heard it there is one bidder that will offer 75 Million dollars. That pays the bond and then some! I also left early, so I also heard that the City Counsel took selling the Facility off the table! That made absolutely no sense to me!
