We are selling Raffle Ticketsto support Lyon County Senior Programs. This is a county wide fundraiser and we hope the community will step up to help support the programs that support our seniors here in Fernley. The tickets are $5.00 each and there are three $500.00 prizes one each to Lowes, Amazon, and Wal Mart donated by our County Commissioners. The Flu Shot clinic will be held on September 24, 2012. Appointment times will be from 10 am--2 pm. You must sign up. No walk in’s will be taken. Call the center for more information 575-3370
Our Crafting Class will be back on the first Wednesdays in September at 10:00 AM This is a fun class and you learn to make so many different things. Please call 575-3370 to inquire
November 3rd will be our 4th Annual Craft Fair. We are currently taking reservations for booth space Early Bird pricing through September. Call 575-3370 for more information.
The senior center is in need of toiletries like shampoo, soaps, deodorants, toothpaste and brushes etc.… Thank you!
To be eligible to attend the senior centers in Lyon County you must be 60 years of age or older. The Fernley Senior Center is located at 1170 W. Newlands Dr. 575-3370 the hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
If you need assistance with filling out forms, eligibility, resources, or have general Medicare/ Medicaid questions call the Senior Center to make an appointment with Carlyn Grocholski our Resource Specialist. She is in Fernley on Mondays and Wednesdays.
If you need to make arrangements for medical transportation please call the following numbers:

Thursday September 6th is our next T-Shirt day!!! Wear your shirt.. win a prize!
September 10th will be our Meet with the Manager meeting at 1:00pm, and our Geneology class at 11:30 am.
Our first Relay for Life team meeting will be on September 17th at 12:30pm. Come join the fun!
Monday September 17th will be the only Movie Day in September. Hunger Games is on for the showing. If you think you will not like this movie.. think again.. it is pretty good and keeps you on the edge of your seat!
Lyon County Senior Services is having a Raffle Drawing through the end of September, tickets are $5.00. Prizes will be a $500.00 Gift Card to Wal Mart-Lowes-Amazon.com. Please see the manager at the Senior Center.
Our Annual Craft Fair will be held on Saturday November 3, 2012, were having an Early Bird Special where you can sign up early for table rentals. Please call the Senior Center for more details.

Thursday September 20th we will be having a speaker on the topic of Shingles. Open to everyone! 10:30am- 11:30 am.
Reminders:
On Fridays we are having our Scrap booking class it start at 2 pm and end at 4 pm. Everyone who loves to scrapbook or wants to learn how is welcome to join in!!! So come on down and learn to do scrap booking at the Center. For more information please call the Senior Center at 575-3370
The Quilting Class has changed to Tuesdays at 1:00 PM. Please make changes to your calendar.
Pinochle will be held on Wednesdays at 10:00am and Fridays at 1:00 pm.. these are new hours please make a note of it and come join in on the fun! There is also a game usually going on every day in the morning.. stop by and join the fun!
The writing group meets Thursdays at 1-3 PM. If you're interested please come down to the center and join in the class. A lot of people truly enjoy this class. Everyone is welcome.
If you want to have your funny bone tickled come join us for Penny Bingo on Thursdays at 1:00pm. Our new caller Sam Fischer will keep you laughing all afternoon!
Poker is on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm, Friday’s at 1:00pm, and Saturdays at 12:30 pm. All are welcome to come join the fun.
The Thrift Store is open from 10-2 daily Mon-Fri. Thank you so much in advance. To arrange drop off of donations outside these hours please call 575-3370.
