FERNLEY’S FIRST OLYMPIAN JAKE DALTON TO RECEIVE KEY TO THE CITY

FERNLEY, NV (August 9, 2012) -- The city's first-ever Olympian, Jake Dalton, will receive the key to the city Wednesday, August 15. Fernley native and 2009 Spanish Springs graduate Dalton, who competed on the 2012 US Men’s Gymnastics Team this August in London, England, will receive the key from Fernley Mayor LeRoy Goodman at the upcoming City Council meeting.

 

Jake Dalton, a third generation Fernley resident was born and raised in Fernley until relocating to Sparks to pursue his gymnastics career. The Mayor bestows the “Key to the City” upon individuals that the City wishes to honor, Jake Dalton is the City’s first recipient.  “We are so proud of Jake Dalton,” said Fernley Mayor LeRoy Goodman. “There are a lot of little girls and little boys looking at him and saying I want to be like Jake Dalton. Yes, he’s an American hero and he is truly a role model for the people of Fernley.”

 

The presentation of the Key to the City will be on August 15, 2012, Fernley City Hall, Council Chambers at 5:00 pm. Immediately following the presentation a light reception and meet and greet will be held.
