There are moments of crisis and frisson in our lives which inform us that we've somehow crossed an inner threshold and are changed.

Fernley is one of the last stops for Burners on the way out to the Playa to pick up supplies at our local WalMart.

Participants come in all ages and from many countries. This year we have met folks from Norway, Russia, Italy, South Africa, Canada, Australia and many from the U.S. including Colorado, Arizona and New York. We also bumped into some fire dancers from Las Vegas that were on their way out to perform this week.

 

Modes of transportation and temporary housing range from tents and sleeping bags to state of the art motor homes.

From August 29th to September 5th, Black Rock City will become the 2nd largest city in Nevada with a temporary population of 50,000. Tickets were sold out on July 24 this year.

95% of the lumber from the temple was sourced locally in the Reno Tahoe area.

This is the first temple built in the Reno area.
