Fernley News Network: Taking the Community To A New Level

November 11, 2009

Anytime Fitness Fernley held an area coat drive to help keep local kids warm this winter.

The drive which concludes this week on November 15th has proven to be a big success.

Anytime Fitness Area Director Shelby Hill said, “it was overwhelming how many people in the community just stopped by to donate. We received over 100 coats for area kids.”

The second annual coat drive was publicized more this year which contributed to the increasing number of donations. Hill said, “With the state of the current economy many people are forced to cut back but to see so many help those in the community who are seriously struggling makes me proud to not only work but live in Fernley.”

Shelby was also very appreciative of all the help from Joellen Hines and everyone at Fernley Compass who helped to distribute the coats the children. Anytime Fitness in Fernley will be celebrating their two year anniversary in February and continues to create and sponsor programs to help local Fernley residents. In November the gym will continue to help throughout the holiday season by working with Journey’s Community Church to help families provide Thanksgiving Dinner for local families. In December they will work with Fernley Intermediate School to help provide Christmas to families with financial hardships this year.
