At its next meeting, Associate Treasurer Barbara will be closing the books on this year's sale whose donations added up to what was termed, "a whisker short of $1,500", after expenses. Associate Secretary Lillian was amazed at the number of new animal lovers with whom the group connected. "Our network of friends is expanding and every pet we find a home for is a gift to the community," she added.
Speaking of gifts, ARGONN President Vanessa Stuart announced that the organization has now qualified to participate in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), "the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign". According to its website, "the mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all."
What this means to ARGONN is that employees of the Federal government, such as the U.S. Postal Service, VA Medical Center, National Guard and others can pledge donations during the CFC campaign season which is from September 1 to December 15 this year, aimed at supporting non-profit organizations such as ARGONN whose donation number is CFC 94929.
