(If we do not get any volunteers this year we will not be able to provide free tax service to our community.)
October 29, 2009
(Fernley, Nevada) - AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteers in Fernley to help taxpayers, at the Fernley Senior Center, who are seeking assistance preparing and filing their 2010 tax returns. Volunteers do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to participate.
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers receive 4 days of free tax training in Reno in January and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses. They help taxpayers at the Senior Center by learning new skills and giving back to the community.
In the 6 plus years, we have assisted hundreds of people in Fernley to prepare and file their tax returns. “We could not do it without our volunteers, who make an indelible mark on the communities they help.”
Last year four AARP Tax-Aide volunteers helped over 110 taxpayers in Fernley. Preparing these tax returns saved our citizens over $ 15,000 in preparation fees.
Our volunteers will join the more than 34,000 AARP Tax-Aide volunteers across the country, helping millions of taxpayers each year.
