RGJ ran the story that ethics complaints vs Bonnie Duke and Bacock were dismissed without merit. RGJ did not quote
Bacock and Duke as often as the complaintant giving Bacock room to question the reporter's motives in the way the story was reported. Good news nonetheless because no substantial ethics complaints have been ruled as violations by Ethics panel against Fernley City employees.
Good news indeed.

Hackers broke into the servers at a prominent British climate research center and leaked years worth of e-mail messages onto the Web, including one with a reference to a plan to "hide the decline" in temperatures.
The Telegraph has posted some of the more scathing excerpts from these emails, which the newspaper suggests points to manipulation of evidence and private doubts about the reality of global warming, though the much of the scientific language in…

Thanks so much to all of you who have supported me in the recent recall election. I have had to deal with the distraction of running in two elections for one term, but now I really do hope that we can all get back to making our city a better place. This election has cost several thousand dollars to your city, cost city staff's time and attention, as well as personal cost to my family and I. It really does get in the way of good government. We have experienced two of these misguided recalls in…

Way to go Lowell. It was hard to believe you would do anything seriously wrong anyway. I am sure its a relief off of your mind As part of the ethics code panel opinion, it is clear that those that brought the charges had serious hurdles to cross over as to their motivation and strength of argument etc. I think its like 50 something that the ethics panel has cleared and I do not know of any where they found fernley city employees guilty of anything serious. Its good to know that I live in a city…

But ... It's always nice to share.

For the purposes of this report, comparisons are only made for ¾” meter residential water rates, this covers the overriding majority of single family homes in Fernley.
Because of the cost of the Water Treatment Plant, in June of 2007 the former City Council approved four Water Rate Increases, which are occurring July 1st each year. July is historically the beginning of the heaviest water usage…

Happy sounds of Victory emulated from the Chaffin residence. 195 to 181 was the vote count. And a more somber whisper, hope and prayer reverberated among those present. Let the recall madness end.

In July, AngerisBrewing.com ran an article crediting Citizens Working 4 Fernley for organizing and executing a recall of two Fernley city councilmen. A retraction was later posted and will, for the benefit of the Fernley News, be released again in the next newsletter.
While volunteers did overlap between the recent successful council recall AND the Citizens Working 4 Fernley group, that does not mean that one was organized by the other.
The misunderstanding was mine and I…

A small activist group wants to remove popularly elected officials. Councilman Martin was recalled by only 5% of his ward’s voters. Opponents of our council members claim to be the voice of the people, but don’t understand their larger community’s needs. In another recall group, some have been willing to spread lies and bully neighbors.
Fernley will eventually be constrained by our ability to use water resources and our attractiveness to newcomers. Our city council understands the…
