Fernley News Network: Taking the Community To A New Level

How are material Trucks going to access 95A crossing two lanes of traffic heading back to the plant? NV Cements current material trucks are doubles correct? West bound traffic heading North is already a nightmare in the morning and evening. Not very excited about being stuck behind any tractor trailers trying to merge into 95 A. Can only image around lunch time as students are leaving campus also! Would love to know the stats on current accidents on both proposed entrance and exit points off Sage and Sorrio drives. As the area grows only can see major traffic issues for both streets.

I have calls into NDOT at the state level to see if there needs to be a Right of Way Permit issued for the additional trucks.

Also, I have a call into NDOT at the district level to see if any traffic assessment has been done regarding safety of this exact issue. I will be posting answers from them on the blog and discussion page of the Pozzolan Mine site.

There is currently a proposed additional slowing lane to be put it at both Sage and Sario drive for the large trucks to slow down. Unfortunately neither of these two streets is wide enough for the trucks to turn. So the trucks will have to swing back into traffic to make the turn. This is obviously a safety issue, so the truck drivers will simply not use the slowing lane. This will slow down any traffic accelerating as the 55 MPH sign is just past Sage Drive.

This is a very bad place to have trucks turning in and out of on a regular basis. Sario Drive is the next street past Sage and the issue is just as bad.
