The Northern Nevada Veterans Coalition is currently soliciting sponsorships for wreaths to be placed on the headstones of Veterans buried at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley. We are in our 5th year of partnership with the Wreaths Across America Project which serves over 600 Veterans Cemetery around the world. WAA places fresh wreaths on the graves of American Soldiers buried in places like Normand, Germany, South Pacific and many other foreign cemeteries.
This project started at Arlington National Cemetery and has spread to almost all Veterans Cemeteries across the Nation. Five years ago we started the project in Northern Nevada with 28 wreaths and last year we placed 1,394 wreaths on the graves of those that served our great nation. Currently there are over seven thousand Veterans placed at NNVMC, and our ultimate goal is to placed a wreath on every headstone there.
Please visit our website for more information on WAA. You can also sponsor a wreath by odering online through our website. NNVC does not use this as a fundraiser, instead we have opted to participate in WAA's "3 for 2" program. For every two wreaths sponsored, we receive one free. By doing this we will be able to place more wreaths each year.
We invite everyone to join us on Dec. 15th @ 9 a.m. for a short ceremony and to help us place the wreaths.
