The Club’s first foray into Fernley has been made possible through a partnership with the Lyon County School District, as well as the generosity of business and individual donors.
“It is part of the Club’s mission that it will never turn away a member for lack of funds,” Wurm said. “Luckily we have a great support system in the Fernley community providing the resources we need to help kids build great futures.”

Fernley Preservation Society
The society was incorporated in 1986, although its roots date back to year prior, when local citizens banded together as the "Save the Depot Committee " and Fernley historical research organization to make arrangements to acquire and relocate the historic 1914 Fernley Depot, that was closed in 1985. These two groups merged and became the F.P.S.
Many of our projects are completed due to the generosity of local businesses and contractors who donate their services, and the blood, sweat and tears of our dedicated members.
Fernley Wadsworth Lions Club
The Fernley Wadsworth Lions Club was chartered in 1971. Since then, our club has sponsored the formation of two other Lions Clubs, as well as our own very successful Leos Club.
Prior to joining the Washoe County Sight Conservation Committee in 1979, we provided eye exams and glasses for the needy. The Fernley Wadsworth Lions Club has sponsored the annual Easter Egg Hunt since 1983, and has given away free Christmas Baskets of food to the needy since 1971. Every summer, the club sends at least two under-privileged youths to summer camp at Camp Dat-So-La-Lee at no charge to the families. In 2008, the club stepped in to provide assistance after the Fernley Flood.
Hands of Hope Food Bank - Fernley

Project Linus
First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
Relay for Life - Fernley
For over 25 years, Relay For Life has been Celebrating HOPE. And for over 25 years, people have been drawing on the strength of the Relay community to fight back against cancer.
Citizens need to take action to make cancer a national priority. Only an organized movement, united in its mission and relentless in its purpose, can put cancer at the top of the country's agenda.
ACS CAN is that movement, bringing together cancer survivors, patients, and caregivers and making the voice of the cancer community heard in the halls of government. Together, we CAN make cancer history by enacting laws and policies that will help bring an end to this devastating disease.
